Los \u00faltimos guardianes del peyote\u201d, yesterday Saturday 17 of May, parallel to its release in Real de Catorce. The college, by being part of the UWC movement which aims to <em>\u201cmake of education a force to unite peoples, nations and cultures for a more peaceful and sustainable future\u201d,<\/em> shelters students from around 60 nationalities. Around 25 students and 5 teachers saw the documentary. Here some comments:<\/p>\n<p>El documental es impecable, es una mezcla de informaci\u00f3n religiosa, ciencia, econom\u00eda y pol\u00edtica. Mas que \u00fanicamente plasmar los problemas de el grupo ind\u00edgena Wixarika, creo que representa la cruda realidad de muchos de los grupos ind\u00edgenas mesoamericanos. En general representa, como bien se dice en el documental, una lucha de todo M\u00e9xico. \u00a1Me encanto!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Miranda Mora, Venezuela<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The movie is so good and so effective! By watching the movie I felt closer to the people who are suffering and their spirituality, their culture! Also, I understood better all the interests involved with that destructive mining project! Thank you for this movie!<\/p>\n<p><strong> -Doha Tazi, Morocco<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The documentary brought me close to the issue that is happening in a distant indigenous group in Mexico but also made me reflect that this similar issues happen all around the world threatening cultures and peoples. The great emphasis on the religious along with cultural, economic and scientific aspects of the problem, are a remembering of the high level of complexity and\u00a0different faces of what is happening. Watching was a great opportunity to break stereotypes and learn that life is about choices. That the Wixaritari have chosen to live how they live and have chosen to fight for their rights.<\/p>\n<p><strong>-Louise Rocha, Brazil<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Muchas cosas pasaron por mi mente mientras miraba \u2018Huicholes: Los \u00faltimos guardianes del peyote\u2019 en calidad de Jalisciense que cre\u00eda conocer la cultura Huichol por un par de contactos que hab\u00eda tenido en el pasado, en calidad de una mexicana que est\u00e1 muy consciente de su mestizaje y sobre todo en calidad de saberme un espectador que se podr\u00eda fundir entre los extranjeros de este lado del mundo, en India al mismo tiempo que en Real de 14: El documental no solo profundiz\u00f3 mi concientizaci\u00f3n acerca de la problem\u00e1tica que el pueblo Wix\u00e1rika enfrenta y ha enfrentado para sobrevivir a la mole de acero que se ha venido llevando al pueblo mexicano desde unos cuantos siglos atr\u00e1s si no que provoc\u00f3 un cuestionamiento a\u00fan m\u00e1s profundo y sumamente complejo de la aparente naturaleza del ser humano a la homogeneizaci\u00f3n cultural, a aquello que se ha decidido denominar valuable contra aquello que es desechable.
